Winner of the Menswear Designer of The Year CFDA Award, Michael Bastian's been quite the busy designer these days. Debuting his highly anticipated bridge line, Gant, by Michael Bastian in fall 2010, Bastian has been a force to be reckoned with in the menswear industry. Bastian's no stranger to the menswear world. Starting his career with heavy weights such as Ralph Lauren, and Bergdorf Goodman (where he was the men's fashion director for five years) Bastian's been a pioneer of menswear rivaling his predecessors.
The Michael Bastian lines have been reviewed as a younger, eclectic version of our beloved Ralph Lauren. The east coast inspired Michael Bastian line takes a more sporty approach to American sportswear. In his S/S 2011 line Bastian gives the American male more bravado with more body conscious fits, while implementing a series of rugged, American, classics such as rugby, chino, track jackets, and khaki.
Gant by Michael Bastian delivers more than your typical bridge line. Delivering the same rugged American aesthetic, Gant focuses on his Swedish influences. Gant is a more raw line in particular focusing heavily on outerwear, layering, and European influenced styling. In his Fall 2011 line, Bastian gives us a euro-painted trip to the Alps filled with parkas, fleece, corduroy, denim, and color!
