Drool Worthy: 4 Runway Pieces for the New YearSaturday, January 12, 2013Aaron Reese
Now that the new year has started, we can officially began lusting after new items. While I'm never short of a drool-worthy designer piece, the new year brings the opportunity to reignite your closet. One of my personal goals is to try something a little different than the year prior.
The change can be small or big, contingent upon your comfort level. Me personally, I say go for broke! Try a color that you have always considered loud, or a trend you're curious about. Below you'll find four of my biggest runway 'wants'. Try taking a peek at some of your favorite designer shows and use them for inspiration, or if you're like me, diligently seek these items out!
What will you do this year to mix it up?
4. Kenzo Sweatshirt- Kenzo can be a shot in the dark for me at times. Conceptually speaking the design house can be a bit much, but when the pieces are wearable pieces, they're pretty damn spectatcular. Case in point, this Kenzo tiger sweatshirt from their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. The label's signature roaring big cat simply does it for me, obviously!
3. Givenchy Kilt- Riccardo Tiscci, my spirit animal and prince of grunge has done a lot for the Parisian power house; most noticeably his androgynous concepts. Kilts, meggings, and blousy shrts are all part of a delicious Givenchy designer mix that the fashion industry swoons over. I've been dying to get myself into a kilt, preferably a black leather one, (yes I'm stealing your look Kanye). This is probably my most prominent change in wardrobe. I can't say if I'd do the exact look above (from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection), but I could definitely have some fun with it.
2.Dsquared Padlock Chain- The Canadian twins have been bopping on my radar for quite some time now. I'm an acesories addict, and there's nothing more that make my eyes glaze over like a glorious statement piece. Take that beauty of a padlock necklace above. I don't know where the hell I'd where that to, but I'm determined to have it. The chain along with several other embellished statement pieces made it's debut in the Dsquared Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
1.Raf Simons Blue Blazer- Raf Simons, one of my newer unsung heroes never disappoints me with his collections. Admittedly, I will say I've never looked to his suiting before, but this electric blue blazer is dazzling, wouldn't you say? This shade of blue (and no it's not cerulean ladies) is making quite the splash on the runway, so I'm willing to give it a shot. I acquired a Raf Simons graphic tee for X-Mas this exact same color, and boy does it make my skin pop! I can be pretty basic with sports coats and blazers, so one can only imagine what a blazer of this vernacular would do for me.
